Center for Advanced Gerotherapeutics, Cedars-Sinai

About
The Center for Advanced Gerotherapeutics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, was launched with the recruitment of James Kirkland from Mayo Clinic in 2024, with Tamar Tchkonia as co-director. It develops and tests drugs that target basic ageing processes, chiefly cellular senescence, including senolytics such as dasatinib plus quercetin and fisetin, and senomorphics. Its Facility for Geroscience Analyses, led by Tchkonia, measures senescence, epigenetic and mitochondrial biomarkers in samples from Cedars-Sinai studies and the NIH-funded Translational Geroscience Network, which Kirkland leads as a principal investigator. The centre sits alongside Cedars-Sinai's Center for Translational Geroscience and Diabetes and Aging Center, and supplies an Advanced Gerotherapeutics core to the Los Angeles Pepper Older Americans Independence Center. Cedars-Sinai says it plans senolytic trials in treatment-resistant cancers, organ preservation for transplant, and fibrotic diseases.
