Life Biosciences is a privately held, clinical-stage biotechnology company in Boston developing cellular rejuvenation therapies based on partial epigenetic reprogramming. Its platform uses controlled expression of three transcription factors, OCT4, SOX2 and KLF4 (OSK), intended to restore youthful gene-expression patterns in aged or injured cells, building on research from co-founder David Sinclair's Harvard laboratory on loss of epigenetic information in aging. The lead candidate, ER-100, targets retinal ganglion cells in optic neuropathies; after FDA IND clearance in January 2026, the first participant was dosed in June 2026 in a Phase 1 trial in open-angle glaucoma and non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) that assesses safety, tolerability and visual function. The company states it is extending the platform to further indications in other organs. It was founded in 2017 around a model of multiple daughter companies.
