About
NewLimit is a South San Francisco biotechnology company developing epigenetic reprogramming medicines intended to restore youthful function in old cells. It was co-founded by Jacob Kimmel, formerly a principal investigator at Calico and now CEO, Coinbase co-founder Brian Armstrong and investor Blake Byers. Its Discovery Engine pairs AI models that design transcription-factor payloads, including a system called Ambrosia, with pooled genomic screens in old human cells and animal models. Programmes target hepatocytes (metabolism), T cells (immunology) and endothelial cells (vascular), with payloads delivered as LNP-formulated RNA. In 2025 the company named its first preclinical candidate, a hepatocyte reprogramming payload, and after a USD 435 million Series C in June 2026 it stated plans to begin its first human trial the following year. The company publishes bimonthly progress updates on its blog.
