Andrew Steele is a Berlin-based scientist, writer and campaigner who works to bring the science of aging to general and policy audiences. After a PhD in physics at the University of Oxford he moved into computational biology, working at the Francis Crick Institute on machine learning applied to genomic data and to predicting heart attacks from NHS medical records. He is the author of Ageless: The new science of getting older without getting old, and is now a full-time science writer and presenter, with articles in outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Sunday Times, Guardian and WIRED, and appearances on Netflix's Don't Die, BBC News and NBC's TODAY. He runs a YouTube channel on longevity science. As Director and Co-Founder of The Longevity Initiative, a non-profit working towards a world where longevity medicines are accessible to everyone, he focuses on public explanation of longevity research and advocacy for research funding and policy; the organisation states he has given policy advice to A4LI, the Tony Blair Institute and UK parliamentary science select committees. For the longevity field he is a prominent evidence-focused communicator and advocate rather than a laboratory researcher.
