Impact

Marco Quarta, PhD, is a scientist and biotechnology entrepreneur developing therapeutics for ageing and age-related disease. He co-founded Rubedo Life Sciences, a clinical-stage company developing therapies that target senescent and other pathological ageing cells, served as its founding CEO, and is now its Chief Scientific Officer. As CEO he led Rubedo's $40 million Series A in 2024, raised to take its first clinical candidate, RLS-1496, into Phase 1 studies in chronic atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Before Rubedo he led translational research in regenerative medicine at Stanford University and the VA Palo Alto, working across stem cell biology, tissue repair and ageing. He has authored more than 80 publications and patents, co-founded other biotechnology companies including Turn Biotechnologies and Wetware Concepts, and is President and co-founder of the Phaedon Institute, a nonprofit focused on longevity medicine. A 2026 paper listing him at Rubedo linked senescent fibroblast heterogeneity and the DNA damage response to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
