Impact
Richard Siow is a vascular biologist who has built and led one of the UK's most prominent cross-disciplinary aging research consortia. Since 2016 he has directed Ageing Research at King's (ARK), a King's College London and King's Health Partners initiative that connects researchers across faculties to study the mechanisms of aging and to improve healthspan and longevity in the community. As a Reader in Vascular Biology in the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences, his laboratory studies redox signalling in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular aging, including how phytochemicals and nutrigenomics modulate the Nrf2 antioxidant response and mechanotransduction in blood vessels. He has published more than ninety peer-reviewed papers and secured over four million pounds in collaborative funding, and he is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. He also contributes to public and policy engagement on aging, including work with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Longevity.
