Alex Zhavoronkov

Impact

Alex Zhavoronkov founded Insilico Medicine in 2014 and serves as its Chairman, Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Business Officer. Insilico develops generative artificial intelligence and automation platforms for drug discovery and biomarker development, and describes extending healthy longevity as part of its mission. According to the company, he applied AI to data types including aging, disease mechanisms and target identification, and from 2016 applied generative adversarial networks and reinforcement learning to target discovery and molecule generation. Insilico listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 30 December 2025. Before Insilico he held senior roles at ATI Technologies and the Biogerontology Research Foundation. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, including recent work on aging clocks, AI benchmarks for aging biology and a control-theory framework for gerotherapeutic drug discovery, and has written three books, among them 'The Ageless Generation'. He is an adjunct professor of artificial intelligence at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, serves on editorial or advisory boards of aging journals including Aging and npj Aging, and co-chairs the annual Aging Research, Drug Discovery and AI Forum (ARDD).
