James Peyer

Impact

James Peyer, PhD, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cambrian Bio, a New York-based clinical-stage drug development company working on therapeutics that target biological drivers of ageing and age-related disease. Cambrian operates a distributed model in which pipeline companies develop individual programmes, and Peyer holds board and executive roles across several of them. Its pipeline includes a selective mTORC1 inhibitor platform, for which Cambrian announced in February 2026 an award of up to $30.8 million from ARPA-H's PROSPR programme to target intrinsic capacity in older people, and Amplifier Therapeutics, which is developing the AMPK network activator ATX-304. Before Cambrian, Peyer was founder and managing partner of Apollo Ventures, a longevity-focused venture capital firm investing in the US and Europe, and a biotech R&D specialist at McKinsey & Company in New York. He earned a PhD in stem cell biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center as a National Science Foundation Fellow and a BA from the University of Chicago. He spoke at ARDD 2026.
