About
Altos Labs is a biotechnology company whose stated mission is to restore cell health and resilience through cell rejuvenation in order to reverse disease, injury and disability. It launched in January 2022, founded by Hal Barron, Rick Klausner and Hans Bishop, and combines academic-style principal-investigator groups with industrial drug development. Research is organised into Institutes of Science in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego and Cambridge (UK), an Institute of Medicine for translation, and a later-formed Institute of Computation building generative models of cell and organ health. Its scientists work on cellular rejuvenation programming, including partial epigenetic reprogramming, epigenetic ageing clocks, senescence and stem-cell ageing. In 2025 the company appointed Joan Mannick as Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical programmes within the Institute of Medicine.
